I never knew that there was a military hospital in Castlebar at one time.Castlebar Library have on display in their foyer a number of different maps of Mayo,the oldest I think 1594.On one of them,it shows C/bar around 1895 & shows a military hospital at the rear of the military barracks.It seems sort of obvious that there would be one but I never knew about it.I have never seen or heard anything about it regarding records,personnel,etc.
It would be interesting to find out.
