"Hill 16" is one of the famous eighteen hills of Dublin where King Sitric landed and founded the city in 1289. The legendary siting for the battle of Clontarf was on the fourteenth hill...very near to the beach at Clontarf which sustained battle saw the onslaught and defeat of the Nordic invasion of Ireland by Brian Boru.
The Fir Bolag were thought to have set up site at the first hill of Dublin and megalithic engravings have been found at this site...just outside the RDS.
The mythical Danish King Harald was thought to have bee buried in the vally of the eight and night hills, located just outside Lucan these hills are to the extream west of what was then Dublinium....extensive archeological excavations by several building contractors in the QuaryVale area of west Dublin have held no significant treasure, however some excellent shopping centers can no be found on the site.
