My old landlady of almost fifty years ago, Katie Cosgrove, in McHale Road, told me Dr. Knott had a son named Bossie who was born with a tooth. Katie remembered Margaret Burke Sheridan as a child and brought her to school by the hand. Another world. My late father drove a steamroller. They were majestic, with the name 'Marshall' emblazoned across their front. Tommy Mannion from Ballyheane always gets out the steamroller for us on St. Patrick's Day, a huffing, puffing gentle giant, the roller, that is.
