A short well illustrated history of Turlough Park House and the FitzGeralds of Castlebar, Co. Mayo - home of the legendary 'Fighting FitzGerald' - now the national museum of country life. The author, having lived at Turlough Park from childhood until 1991, has drawn from a collection of family photographs / papers and personal recollections. The story begins in Italy in 1057, moves to Normandy, across to England with William the Conqueror, crossing to Ireland with Strongbow. The family were transplanted to Turlough in 1653 where they remained until 1991. | ||||
