As part of Mayo County Libraries' celebration of the Bealtaine festival Sr. Hillary Lyons will appear in Castlebar Library on Tues 17th May at 1:00 p.m. Sr. Hillary Lyons from Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, worked as a nun and a doctor for over forty years in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
She is a Missionary Sister of the Holy Rosary formerly known as the Killeshandra Nuns. She is the author of ‘Old Watering Holes: Mayo to Serabu' and ‘Where Memories Gather: Chuckles and Wisdom' .
Her books draw on the three significant landscapes of her life: her early life in rural Mayo, her professional life in Africa and the daunting challenge of active retirement in 21st century Ireland. Sr. Hillary will talk about her life as a missionary and her memories of her childhood in Mayo. All are welcome at this Free event!
