Castlebar Gospel Choir rocked the Ruby Room on 15 October 2010. Together with their new band they sang and played to a highly appreciative audience. The concert provided a platform for the launch of their new CD and the choir belted out some of their old favourites to their loyal following before launching into a second half dominated by musical surprises.

To start the second half, newly formed male voice group 'The Troubadors' made their long awaited début which wowed the audience. The group, comprised of the male members of the gospel choir featured Billy Joel's 'The Longest Time' - their rendition is certainly worth listening to time and again. Their upcoming December date in Breaffy House Hotel will certainly be on the 'to-do' list!
Following the Troubadors the band started up and the choir moved into fifth gear. Going electric really suits them and the guitars and drums give great depth to the already excellent piano playing. Belting out some wonderful versions of songs such as Mundy's 'By Her Side' to other contemporary classics such as 'Could it be Magic', 'Son of a Preacher Man' and 'Ain't no Mountain High Enough'. It was a wonderful night brimming with energy and passion, the uplifting spirit of this choir has to be seen to be believed.
Their new CD, 'Songs of Freedom' was also launched on the night for more information, check out www.castlebargospelchoir.com
