There was a very good attendance at the recent
Achill Tourism AGM in Ostán Ghob a Choire. Members of the organisation
were delighted with the progress that the committee and staff have made over the
past 15 months, in particular with the organisation of the Achill Half-Marathon,
which Achill Tourism delivered for the first time, and the reinstatement of
Féile Bia na Mara. Both festivals took place in July, which saw an
increase in visitor numbers in 2009. Achill Tourism is concentrating on
developing tourism products that meet modern visitor expectations, and also
intends to provide an online booking system for its members in 2010.

The success of the 2009 Half-Marathon
allowed the organisation to distribute funds to national charities
GOAL and REHAB, and small grants for nine local community
groups that will help them to complete local
projects within the next year.
