Nominations for the roles of Chamber President and Vice President are still being accepted. Closing date is Thursday 15th November and extra nomination forms are available in the office.

Congratulations to Pat Jennings who was recently elected as Chairman of CCI West Region, and to Vivienne Kyne who is the only Mayo nominee for Business Woman of the Year.

Our Euro training workshop, run in conjunction with IBEC, SFA, Ulster Bank & Forfás will take place on Wednesday night 28th November. The event will include workshops and hands on practical experience for both retail and non-retail businesses. Places are limited so please book early. Download Booking Form

Don't forget, there is free training available in the Community Access Centre. Online training software has been installed on a number of the computers in the centre. This programme is aimed specifically at those who would not normally have access to computers or IT resources.

The European Movement are holding a number of ½ day courses 'Europe Explained - an Easy Guide to the EU'. Booking forms, dates and venues are available in the office.

Please note, new penalties have been introduced since the 26th October in respect of the late filing of annual returns. The late filing penatly of £5 has been replaced with an initial fine of £80 with further penalties for each subsequent day.

Are you the secretary of a company? A new information guide outlining your duties has just been published.

We are bringing out a local telephone directory in the new year. If you haven't already received details about this by post please let us know. It will be available in draft form to check your entry next month. Look out for details in the local papers.

Western Care are holding their annual dinner on Saturday night 17th November. If you are interested in joining the Chamber of Commerce table, please let us know.

Once again it's time for Christmas Lights. This is the final year of our current town lighting scheme and again we are appealing to your generosity. We need to raise in the region of £25,000. Early next year all the current wiring will be removed and a new scheme for the town will be planned We will be looking for your input into the new plan early 2002.

Remember CCI in conjunction with Smart Telecom PLC and McGovern PR are running an excellent PA/Executive Secretary of the year award. Further details are available in the chamber office.

Budget day is December 5th, and we are holding a budget briefing breakfast in conjunction with Anglo Irish Bank and Ernst & Young on Thursday morning 6th December. Booking is essential.
