Gala Millenium Concert
This
was perhaps one of the Clubs most ambitious projects to date.
This
concert was held to celebrate the Millennium and featured various
Choral
groups, Choirs, Folk groups and the Mayo Concert and Youth Orchestra under the
baton of Mr George Lee. The Concert was held at the Travellers Friend Theatre
Castlebar and the compare for the evening was Mr Frank Forde.
The
event was indeed a truly spectacular one with each group and individual
performers alike receiving a rapturous applause from the packed audience.
The
conclusion of the evening entertainment was the performance of Handels
Hallelujah Chorus by the Mayo Concert and Youth Orchestra followed by a
spectacular performance by the massed Choirs together with the Concert Orchestra
of Beethoven’s symphony no.9, “ODE to
joy” and the “Chorus Of The
Hebrew Slaves”: from Nabucco
Giuseppe Vredi.
