The Rose of Carrandine Competition will be held in the Balla Community Centre on Sunday the 27th of July, doors open at 7:30 pm, there is a Bar Exemption and the organizers promise that the evening will be full of craic, music and all round entertainment. All proceeds from this festival are in aid of Enable Ireland Mayo services.

Many companies in the Mayo area were asked if they wanted to nominate a rose to enter this competition (the winner of which would be entered into the finals for the Galway Rose - the winner of which would then go on to partake in the Rose of Tralee festival) so our Sports & Social commitee got together and nominated one of our colleagues, a girl called Suzanne Garvey. |
Suzanne is nervous about appearing on stage as I'm sure are many of the other roses so we'd ask the public to show your support on Sunday night.
We also thought it'd be interesting for the world to get to know a little more about our rose before she goes up on the stage and starts promising to end world hunger and bring about peace for all the little children, etc., so without any further babbling I present the Suzanne Garvey interview, enjoy !

A : I'm 25 and I'm an Aries.

A: Five foot nathin', ah no I'm about five foot two.
Q: What's your Hair Colour ?
A: Currently it's red and blonde.

A: Two Big Blue Eyes.
Q: What are your Hobbies ?
A: Aerobics, walking, socialising with friends and going to boy band concerts.

A: The Abbey Tavern in Tuam.

A: CP's in Galway or the Millennium in Claremorris of course !!!

A: Finns in Miltown . . . especially the Garlic Mushrooms, yum, yum !

A: Five of them - called Westlife.

A: Uptown Girl (Q: We're assuming the Westlife version, not the Billy Joel version).

A: Colin Farrell (Q: I guess all girls love a bad boy).

A: My hair straightener !!! Would not leave home without it !!
Q: If you won BIG, name five ways you would spend the Lotto (not the DeCare lotto) ?
- ) Well first off would be a holiday to Thailand - to take time thinking how I would spend it.
- ) Then a soft-top convertible. BMW - Red or Black.
- ) After that I'd buy a house.
- ) Then perhaps a bit of shopping in New York and Milan.
- ) Then I'd give some money to charity.

Q: What's your Most Embarrassing Moment ?
A: The time I rang Gerry Ryan on 2FM - it's a very long story but basically he thought I was relieving myself in the toilet when I was talking to him on-air, I'm not going to reveal any more details but if people turn up on Sunday night at the festival then I just may spill the beans !
Q: What would be your Ideal Holiday ?
A: I've never gone but I'd really like to go on a skiing holiday - with any member of Westlife acting as my ski instructor !!!
Q: What was your Best Holiday ever ?
A: The time I went to Korea.
Q: If you won the Rose of Carrandine what would you bring to the title ?
A: I would bring a new sense of life to the title (Q: Yeah, I guess from what we know of you Suz you'd definitely do that alright !).
