Tony Chambers , the late and much loved bandleader, who played to generations of dancers all over Ireland, is pictured here at an open-air concert in Ballina on the occasion of the Ballina Street Festival. Tony played record backing to celebrities like Dolores Keane but his biggest career opportunity came when he starred in the BBC television production ‘The Ballroom of Romance’. Tony’s easy style and cheerful personality made him a household name and his passing was regarded as the end of an era. He left many friends and happy memories behind him.
