Mrs C.E Mellor sent us these photos from Brayton, Selby in North Yorkshire hoping that someone would recognise the people in the photographs. Perhaps other branches of the family have copies of the same photos in their photo albums or hanging on the wall? Her great uncle Ernest William Rowles was born in Bristol, England but emigrated to Australia. These photos came into Mrs Mellor's possession via the Australian branch of her family. There is a Mayo Ballina connection which is as of yet unclear and this is where she is hoping that someone looking in on this website will be able to help out. Family names Carter and Rowles with a Ballina/Bristol/Australian connection?

The man on the left we think is Ernest William Rowles. No other names known.

The Lady in the middle of the front row could be Violet Rowles

Enhancement of faces in photo 2.

The same ladies as in the above photos with their husbands. Grandparents of Caroleann E Mellor, Selby, North Yorkshire: Gentleman third from the left is John H.C. Carter and the woman on the right - Ann Carter (nee Rowles).

Contact: Mrs C E Mellor, 4 The Poplars, Brayton, Selby, North Yorkshire or post information on the Nostalgia Board.
