The photo shows Steve Dunford, (centre) with Austin Vaughan, Mayo Co. Librarian (left) and James Laffey, Editor, Western People, (right) pictured in Ballina Library at the launch of Steve’s new book - 'In Humbert’s Footsteps', which tells the story Humbert's landing at Killcummin in 1798, and follows the French army's progress as it passes through Killala, Ballina, Lahardane, and the Windy Gap to Castlebar.

The book was written by Steve Dunford in collaboration with Dr. Guy Beiner of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, Israel. It is a beautiful publication illustrated with many photographs, drawings, and maps, and is essential reading for anyone interested in the French campaign in Co. Mayo.
