The Lough Conn and Cullin Fly-Fishing Festival has been cancelled due the horrendous state of the lake. The festival, which has been running for thirty-seven years and is well known internationally, will not be going ahead this year or even next year because of pollution in the lake. The Lough Conn and Cullin Anglers Association say that the lake can no longer be considered as a quality brown trout fishery. The Government is not implementing any measures that would improve the condition of the lake.
