Dancers have long revered the Pilates method for its ability to achieve strength without bulk and now medical facilities across the globe are beginning to integrate the work into their treatment protocols.  Pilates comes into the limelight most recently with celebrities like Madonna being an avid fan and singing its praises.  Often called the ‘thinking man’s’ workout, the Pilates method emphasizes precisely controlled movements that strengthen the pelvic, abdominal and back muscles, improves alignment and posture, and increases balance and flexibility.  Throughout the work a high level of concentration and body awareness is imperative, and Pilates should always be approached as a mind-body regimen.  Pilates also promotes heightened body awareness, leading to more precise co-ordination.

If you are interested in trying this concept of mind-body workouts, please contact any of the Leisure Team for details on 094 26749 or e-mail us at: castleleisureclub@eircom.net

8 week course starting Monday 20/01/2003 at 10am-11am OR Thursday 23/01/2003 at 8.30pm-9.30pm.  Complimentary Introduction to Pilates on Thursday 16/01/2003 from 7pm-8pm.
