Enviro Fest in the West, the second annual festival of environmental events organised by Mayo E-Live continues at various venues throughout the locality. Over the weekend there was considerable interest in the talks and presentations and the line up of activities attracted good attendances at the various events.

During the coming week there are quite a variety of events that should appeal to a wide audience and will hopefully give us all a better appreciation of our heritage and greatest asset, namely our environment. Everybody is welcome to attend any of these events.

On Tuesday April 29th Mayo County Library, Castlebar will be the venue for a presentation entitled:

" Conservation, Renovation and Innovation."- How to adapt nineteenth century vernacular buildings to suit twenty first century living."

This presentation by Gerry Joyce, Conservationist and Traditional Craftsman will commence at 8.p.m. Presentation will include aspects of conservation, thatching, stonework and traditional crafts.

On Wednesday April 30th Dolores Whelan, Educator in Celtic Tradition, will facilitate a presentation in the Primary School, Ballinrobe at 7p.m entitled:

"Welcoming the summer - A celebration of Bealtaine."

On Thursday May 1st there will be a Poetry Reading in Westport Library commencing at 8p.m with Sean Lysaght, Naturalist and Author.

Literature providing information on Energy Saving and Environmental Awareness will be available at all venues thanks to the co-operation of Mayo Energy Agency and the Environmental Awareness Officer , Mayo County Council.

Mayo E-Live are grant aided jointly by Mayo County Council & the Dept. of the Environment and Local Government under the Local Environmental Partnership Fund 2003.
