The water levels are still very low thus holding back big numbers of fish in the tidal stretches in Ballina. It looks now that we will have little rain resulting in poor fishing for the remainder of the season. Some 80 salmon were reported for the week with the heaviest fish weighing 9lbs and caught by Gary Lloyd Dublin.

James Allen Derry had 3 fish best 6.7lbs.

Few anglers were out during the week and on the better fishing days good catches were reported mainly to either wet or dry daddies. The heaviest trout 3.25lbs was caught by Tim Deacy Castlebar. Nick Carter Crossmolina had 8 trout and 1 salmon all of which he released. The salmon weighed about 8lbs and his best trout was 2.75lbs. Stephen Neylon Ballina had 5 trout best 1.75lbs.

Balla and District Angling Club Held their annual Seamus McDonnell Memorial Competition on Manulla Lake on Sunday 21^st. Thirty anglers took part.

There was a good return of fish for the day with many large fish caught.

Heaviest fish was caught by P.J. Brogan.

Two shark weighing 80lbs and 40lbs were caught by Mick Keaveney and Padraig Munnelly ably assisted by Victor Alexander.
