The recent thatched cottage photos in our West of Ireland Photo Gallery sparked off a few memories. In particular memories about one thatched house right in the middle of Castlebar. Jean McGreal supplied this photo from the 1984 issue of the Castlebar Parish Magazine in an article by Michael Brady of Newport Road.  This cottage was located at the junction of Tucker Street and Newline.  Annie Stewart lived there with her niece Bridie Maloney. It was always beautifully decorated for the annual Corpus Christi procession in Castlebar. The discussion then goes on to remember the names of people who played in the town band for the Corpus Christi Procession.
