I agree with Jasper . . . most of the street crime in Castlebar is really just public disorder, it wouldn't be classified as crime in a big metro area . . . young fellas & young wans with too much drink in them and no ability to handle it - that and the fact that they regard the local police as a joke so there's no fear when they do whatever they do.

Still it's no excuse - whatever about the kids/young adults, the Gardai are plainly not doing enough - all they have to do is park a car/van on Main Street every Fri & Sat night and that'll prevent a lot of the problems.

Whatever happenned to all the 'happy drunks' or was there always fellas who wanted a 'scrap' when they were full of drink ?
