There used to be great crack during Elections in Kings Pub years ago. That time( 1960/70's)most of the Government Ministers or Opposition Deputies would travel around the country with the Taoiseach of the day /Oppostion Leader & always call into Kings, when visiting Castlebar.Back then, there was no political correctness & the T.D.s/Ministers would let their hair down & enjoy a drink or two(probably still do).Looking back,it now seems surreal to think you could be playing cards with the Minister of whatever & arguing a political point with his opposite later on.Those times are long gone.
