I remember great "bonfires" being held in the Curragh years ago and the local lads would collect wood/branches from Horseshoe Wood (now gone but was located near where the Traveller's Halting Site is now)and bring them up the Curragh along the railway track.
There was also great rivalary between the Curragh bonfire gang and the Saleen bonfire gang because they too travelled along the railway line to collect wood.
