Mai's brother was Tommy Leonard and he operated a hackney service for many years. He was also involved with Castlebar Celtic and a great soccer supporter. The story is told that Mai went across the road one day to Christy Hoban's shop and asked for 2 rashers, 2 sausages please and a nice egg for Tommy. The response she received was "certainly Mai, you must be havin' a party"!
