Purchase a castlebar email address to Help Prevent Castlebar's Voluntary Website Closing
- support www.castlebar.ie:

  • Castlebar.ie requires funding to keep going.
  • Without funding the site will be forced to close in the near future.
  • A Castlebar Email Address Scheme is being introduced to raise sufficient funds to keep the site going.
  • You can now support the Castlebar website directly by purchasing a your.name@castlebar.ie email address starting from as little as €10 or €20 euro. Use the paypal form above.
  • As a voluntary website no one gets paid to provide content or for working on the site.
  • The site has been going since 1997: almost 10 years now.
  • Since 2000 it has been updated 365 days a year.
  • The site is as popular as ever with over 3 million hits per month mostly from Castlebar and Mayo people.
  • It was supported by the Information Age Town competition from 1999 to 2003 but now the only source of income is advertising and donations.
  • Hosting charges, accountancy fees, routine maintenance (telecoms costs, etc) all add up.
  • Currently the site needs to raise approximately 8000 euro to survive into 2007.
  • In addition to regular costs a series of extraordinary costs arise from the need to close down the website's company, Castlebar Server Project Ltd, which is not commercially viable and has to be delisted from the Companies Registration Office - at some considerable expense.

  • We are also appealing to local businesses to advertise on the website to put their commercial messages across to the people who make over 300,000 visits to the site each month.
  • Advertising with Castlebar.ie is easy and makes a lot of sense.
  • Visit our advertising page to select the appropriate form of advertising for your business or email us with your queries.
  • Typically the site gets over 3 million hits per month mostly from Castlebar and Mayo people so the site is as popular as ever and highly relevant to local businesses.
