The chap who sold dilisk (or dulse) on the bridge in Castlebar was named Whittington. Don't know his surname, but his father was Jimmy Whittington who sold fish at the bridge for many years; came from Charlestown. A very humorous individual, he was a great salesman, hardworking and kind. The Lydon family, Staball, and Tom Connolly, Newantrim Street, sold fish from their little bogies for many years. As far as I know, the only member of the Lydon family surviving is Michael Lydon who returned to Castlebar some years ago after a lengthy spell in England. There was a mayor of Coventry who was married to Mrs. Lydon's grandmother.
