Skip, So many memories flood back on hearing of your passing. At the Point, at the diving board, at the outdoor pool at Marian Row. You swam the most perfect front crawl. You pushed us, coached us, ballocked us and inspired us. Heraty R.I.P. mimmicked you to perfection, you reacted furiously, he persisted and on it went but you secretly enjoyed it. Yourself, Skinty and Mongey accompanied us in Billy Newel`s minibus to galas in Sligo, Castlerea, Longford, Blackrock and Loughrea in 68, 69 and 70. Once in the depths of winter you brought us to the indoor pool at
Longford in the black morris minor with the mechanical indicators, and fair paly you got her up to 80 at times ( and remember we gave a few bob to the juice ) In the early 60s I remember you playing ice hockey on the Lochán at Blackfort with team mates and opponents - (Butch, the McNally brothers, the Mongey brothers, ? O`Flaherty, one Mikey Joe Neary and others), keeping a wide berth when you swung the blackthorn at the Batchelors pea tin.
