Yes Langstons Hill to us way back then was as exciting and romantic as Victoria Peak in Hong Kong...walking the railway sleepers from the bridge at the station treking along the path on the ditch that ran alongside the tracks until it descended to track level was a an imaginary trek through a trail of mystique and excitement....we picked up the track sleepers near a bridge that spanned an outlet from salleen lake..... how often we went to a spring well that was there and refreshed with a drink of "spring water"....then we'd complete the journey to the "hill"....we were indeed from its summit monarchs of all we surveyed ....our right none to dispute...we' look across at the rock island on salleen lake wher there usually was a pair of nesting swans.....right under the hill was a train signal and yes we got excited if we saw it down ...we knew a train was coming.....i can still see the hazel nut trees .....and that long strech of straight track that made its way to islandeady.....often walking the line we would find coal nuggets the fell off train...we'd look over towards the mental hospital and be curious what went on under its green dome....majestically the reek stood to the west......often after that experience we would descend from our peak and perhaps walk back and onto balloor.....ther we would leave the rails and return home via either the breaffy road or the belcarra road....we allowed our ever expanding imaginations concoct "tall" stories of our accomplishments and experiences ....we'd arrive on the road and look forward to our next adventure on the tracks....we'd often spend some time at joe mcginns monumental works and be amazed at his sculpting.....clarks field was another adventure ...filled with eerie feeligs of the pookies in the fort.....another story ...another time.....tog go bog e
