You'll be glad to know that Paddy Prendergast, universally known as Paddy P, is thriving here in Tralee. A half a dozen of us from Mayo get together a couple of times a year and it is a joy to hear Paddy talk about the footballing days. He has a fund of stories that almost matches your own. A granddaughter of the pellys is nw gracing the screens of Ireland on RTE's popular soap Fair City. When I worked in the Factory, Larry Cresham watched the clocking in. Many's the time he'd be looking at me hurrying up McHale road and shouting: Hurry up bosheen. I only learned recently that my late father, Toby, was sent to London for a while in the late 40's to work in a cannery in Walls so he could train to manage the cannery. That was an amazing part of the factory, with the channels for the cans and the spices in the loft.
