Some of the publicans did sponsor. No matter what big event you have in a town, the publicans will most likely benefit and in the case of the song contest a huge amount of people put in tremendous work over the years, and along with spiralling costs, I think they ran out of volunteers to help.The song contest resulted in a major "feel good" factor all over town and beyond, while it was on and fair play and thank you to those who organised it, we all enjoyed it.
