a cara......in 1941 bro raphael was suddenly transferred from castlebar to hopefully the blasket islands.....i know the reason....bro a ....arrived to take over we were his first class in st. pats..n.s.he was a big man ...somewhat intimidating and my initial reaction to his first entry into our clasroom was that here we have a brute... until the day i left st. pats ....he never dissappointed me in my assessment of him ....for he ruled with tyranny and barbarism......ash plants ...legs of chairs....map lats complete with nails were some of his instruments of torture.....any of my classmates of that period will well recall the fear that we held as rolls of wall paper were unfurled with study items.......if this posting passes the oops.....i will regurgitate some more of this barbaric period......and believe me i had run ins with other bros. my memory is long on this period of my life and a couple of priests can be also thrown into the mix......i hope the censor will allow my posting........!
