I'm researching George O'Malley of Castlebar, died 18 April 1798 aged 65. He was a wealthy tanner; may have lived at Spencer Park ( his son Owen certainly did); married to Elizabeth Clarke; father of Major Gen. George O'Malley, whose statue is outside the Church at the top of Ellison Street. This family is remembered in the roofless side chapel at Murrisk Abbey. They are all descended from Owen O'Malley of Burrishoole (c1650-1738. Existing families who may be descended from George are Brewsters, Owens & Brownes of Raheens: Knotts & Ormsbys; possibly also descendants of Middleton O'Malley & Lavinia Moore.
