As a teacher myself for many years, I am reluctant to cast any stones. I saw behaviour with Br Denis that was inexcusable in any context. In the context of an adult/child relationship his brutality was terrible. Boys were hit on the face with a closed fist, knocked to the ground, hands beaten with a cane until they bled. No acts of kindness can counterbalance such acts of abuse of power and position. I have fond memories of many of the Brothers but Denis, no.
