Hi,
There is no.7895 Private Patrick Carney listed on the 1919 Roll of POW's from 2nd Battalion Connaught Rangers with an address given as 14 Thomas St, Castlebar. This service number would have him enlisting 14 August 1903. After training he would most likely to have been posted first to the 1st Battalion, which was the Home battalion at the time and then sent out with a draft of men to the 2nd Battalion in India in April 1904.

There is a Private 'P' 'C', aged 29 from Mayo, former occupation Labourer listed on the 1911 Census with the 2nd Battalion Connaught Rangers at the Curragh which might be him. They only give the Initials not the full names on the Census in Military barracks in 1911. He is not listed with the 1st Battalion in India in 1911.

Regards Mark
