Poem. The Sinking Of The Titanic

Posted by Skeptic on April 15, 2012 at 04:52:20:

In the mid 50's I think I was in the fourth or fifth grade. I recall a poem on the sinking of the Titanic and I can't find it on any search engine. The first lines were something like.

We'll build a ship and it shall be
The greatest ship that man shall see
A floating palace well designed
For ease and comfort peace of mind

The ship was built and sailed away
A thing of splendor pomp display
The millionaire on his private deck
Ne'er thought of danger death nor wreck

Little he knew the time was nigh
When he and the stoker would have to die
Together find a common grave
In the fathomless depths of the ocean wave

I can still recall Brother Leo's remarks about the common grave of the millionaire and the stoker.

Does anyone know the name of the poet or the rest of the poem.?
