I remember watching the moon-landing in glorious black and white, and my thoughts were with Michael Collins as he orbited the moon. It must surely have been the loneliest time being cut-off from all contact with mankind. As he passed around the dark side of the moon he was cut off visually from earth and had no radio contact either. To me, as I watched,I thought that Collins was a real hero alone in the darkness of space, and wondered what was going through his mind. He still is my hero.
