I came across an article from the late JF Quinn, (who came from Market Square) which stated that he had located a register dated the 10th of March 1797 in which a John Hennan from Castlebar made an affidavit (sworn statement) that he had planted 2,500 trees on the land he leased from a Thomas Tucker of Sarsfield Place. This is now Ballinacorriga which is located on the Pontoon Road, not far from Tucker’s Lake. Thomas may be from the family of which Tucker Street is named after.
