Good find Alan. A family member gave me a copy of a wonderful book: Mayo: History & Society. Chapter 17 details the mapping conducted by William Bald in the early 1800's. The last entry in the references led me to a great map site hosted by the Castlebar Library (http://www.mayolibrary.ie/maptool/#M10C-9.28591!53.87455Z14F1*). Fantastic old maps including Bald's (1809/16) and Petty's map from the 1650s are included and georeferenced. A wonderful resource. My compliments to the Castlebar Library staff.
Bald’s map (1809/16):
* Tucker Lake was not yet named
* Sarsfield is immediately NW of Tucker Lake
* Mount Humbert is immediately north of Sarsfield
* Vinegar Hill is immediately to the west across the road to Lough Rusheen
1838 County Mayo Six-inch Ordnance Survey Map:
* The townland name Derreenmanus has replaced Vinegar Hill
* Mount Humbert has been dropped but Slievenagark Lough has been named
* Tucker Lake has been named
* Sarsfield is retained but is more clearly confined to a locality west of Tucker Lake in the townland of Ballynacarraga
1900 County Mayo Six-inch Ordnance Survey Map:
* Sarsfield has been dropped
