Yes Murrisk, Soccer is doing well here in Castlebar and it was a great honour for our town to have Pat Quigley as President of the Football Association of Ireland for the past five years.
The names you mentioned there were all involved over the years and some of the players of note included, Josie Feeney from Mc Hale Road, "Bisto" Feeney,and Neil Mc Carron a guard stationed in Castlebar in the sixties, along with many may more. Highie Mc Gartland was the "supremo" and he ran a small barber's shop in Castle Street, beside Sean Kilcoyne's butcher shop.
