Was Town clerk in town in 1900 until 1915.
His address at the time was the Bridge.His
father Michael C was a councillor at the same
time.MD got into a few scrapes in his day and
admitted to being "dilatory" in his duties
and was threatened with suspension more than
once.When on leave his brother in law PJFlynn
acted as town clerk in his place.
He left the job in 1915 to sign up with the
4th Connaught rangers to fight in the great War
but whether he ever saw the front line is doubtful.
In any event he returned to town and lived on the
Mall(south).He got himself elected to the council
in 1928 and served as secretary to the ex sevicemans
association.He apparently died in 1945.
Anybody know of info or stories of this charachter.
