When he was elected to Castlebar U.D.C. in June 1928, he had the honour ( alongside two others ) of being elected twice!
Back then for local election purposes, the Town was divided into two Wards ie. East & West and there were 12 seats.Candidates could enter both Wards and this continued until the August 1942 election.Mr. Daly was defeated in the 1934 contest ( his second election ) but was re-elected in 1942.He was also defeated in the election of 1945 and did not contest any more elections after that.
