Its not spoken widely through the travellers, I suppose a bit like people using the "Gaeilge"..It varies also between regions, west of Ireland is mainly "Cant", the east and south being "Gammon" and "Shelta"..most of this is on the net if you search on google...A friend of my mine was on placement recently as part of his degree in social studies and was placed in a travellers refuge centre in longford, and he told me about the travellers talking in a different language..So I dont think its romanticism at all..
