Under 14 'B' Championship
James Stephens Ballina 4-6
Castlebar Mitchels B 3-1
Ballina proved too strong for Mitchels B in this championship tie in Ballina. The game was played in very poor weather conditions with strong winds and rain being the order of the day. Ballina with the aid of the strong wind had the upperhand in the early stages. After sustained pressure they began to pull away at the end of the first quarter. 2 Goals and 5 well taken points left a gap of 11 points at half-time.
Castlebar with the elements in the second period began to put the pressure, and a goal from Conor Mylett gave them hope. Ballina were in no mood to concede however and broke away for a goal of their own. Another Mylett goal & a point from Kevin Keena closed the gap but again Ballina broke away to add another major. A late Sean King goal kept Castlebar in the picture but Ballina with a further point held on for a deserved win.
Ballina had star performers in Shane Mc Manamon, David Carr, Sean Regan & Tom Clarke. Castlebar's best were Brian Collins, Brian Gallagher & Feidhlim Ralph in defence, Paul Colleran at mid-field and Cian Gavin, Kevin Keena & Conor Mylett up front

Under 14 'A' Championship
Tooreen 3-9
Castlebar Mitchels 3-5
In a closely fought game in Aghamore, Tooreen exacted revenge for their Feile defeat against Castlebar Mitchels. With the breeze in the first half Mitchels seemed to be somewhat stronger. An early point from Nathan O'Malley was followed quickly by a Tooreen point. O'Malley then doubled brilliantly on a cross to finish to the Tooreen net and 2 further points from Shane Queenan & Tony Sweeney edged Castlebar further in front. A Shane Boland goal for Tooreen was matched by Shane Irwin to leave Castlebar 2-3 to 1-1 ahead at the break
Tooreen took up the running in the second half and a goal from Fergal Boland and 5 points from Shane Boland pushed them ahead. A Tooreen goal seemed to signal the end of the contest but Castlebar replied with points from Nathan O'Mally & Ryan Mc Guire while Tooreen added further points from Shane & Fergal Boland and Adam Gallagher, while Castlebar replied with a well taken Ryan Mc Guire goal. However Tooreen finished stronger and fully deserved their victory.
Best for Tooreen were Donal Cunnane, Noel Walsh, Donal Folliard, Adam Gallagher and Shane & Fergal Boland. Castlebar had good performances from Joseph Redmond, Colman Munnelly, Darragh O'Malley, Shane Queenan, Paul Colleran & Nathan O'Malley

The Race Night will be held in Coady's Bar on Friday night June 8th starting at 9.30pm. The race night will help to support the running of such things as our Schools Coaching Project, Hurling on the Green, The Hurling Academy, The Suck Valley League, Féile na nGael and all our underage training and competitions.
