Mitchels put in a very impressive performance in overcoming Ballyhaunis in round 2 of the Suck Valley League in Ballyhaunis on Saturday 20 Feb 2010. Played in cold but dry conditions the Castlebar boys put the home team under pressure from the beginning. Kevin Keena and David Bell gave them the advantage at mid-field which ensured a steady supply of possession to the forwards. The scores came after some stern resistance for a while by the home team and Castlebar led at the break by 3-6 to 0-0. The pattern continued in the second period but Ballyhaunis exerted some pressure themselves and were rewarded with a goal of their own and a comeback looked likely for a while. However Mitchels weathered the storm and picked off a number of scores to finish well ahead at the end.

Strong performances were put in at the back by Rory Quinn, Eoghan Quinn, Eamonn Kennedy & Diarmuid Finnan. Kevin Keena & David Bell dominated at mid-field while up front Conor Mylett, Feidhlim Ralph & Art O'Suilleabhain threatened most.
