BÓTHAR APPEAL

In April of this year the pupils of St. Patrick's raised a total of €999.52 in aid of the Bóthar appeal. This money went towards the purchase of two goats, which were sent to families in Tanzania, and two dairy camels, which were sent to Kenya. Here Pat Mc Carrick of Bóthar accepts a cheque. Also in the photo are Vincent McHale, Principal and Caroline Lane, Bóthar Project Co-ordinator.

FOURTH CLASS PUT ON A GREAT PLAY--In The Court Of King Pollution

The fire man.
Fire fire fire man.
Help me, help me please.
My house is on fire.
And I can hardly breathe.
By Rory Quinn Bailie. 1st class

Mr. Barrett's fourth class recently performed a play called In "The Court Of King Pollution". Rory Byrne, Niall Fahey and Donnachadh Barry took the leading roles. The play is about King Pollution [Rory] and his slaves trying to cover the Earth with Pollution and trying to rule the Earth. But they are eventually stopped by King Green Peace [Niall]. Also Donnachadh played the messenger.

A lot of the costumes were made by Olga. Alan and other members of the class helped in the making of the costumes, which looked very colourful and excellent. You can see from watching the play that there was a lot of practice put into the acting and a lot of effort into the scenery.

It was good fun to be in the play and to be doing the acting. With Alan's line being  "I Tipped Over Ms Grady's Compost" and mine being " I Broke A Glass Bottle On A Rock And Threw It On The Sand" and "My Foot Is Cut! My Foot Is Cut!
By Alan Mc Cabe and Ryan Coleman

The Fire Station.
I    saw  lots   of   things  at  the  fire station. First  I  went  into  the  fire engine.
Then   I  came  out. I  saw the ladder. Then  I  picked  up  the cutter. They  cut  the training car at the back.
It  was  like it  crashed  or  something. Then  I  looked  at  the jeep. We  heard  the  siren. And  then  we put on the  helmets. But  the  best thing  I  liked  was  the  fire station.
I  met  a  guy called  Noel.     By Jonathan--1st Class.

A Note From Junior Infants
We've had great fun in our first year at school.  We've made many friends, played many games and read lots of books.
Our teachers took us on outings too!  We've been to the cinema, the library, the playground, the fire station, Turlough House, Ballina Tumble Jungle and McDonalds.
We took part in a parade for the Mayo Football Final around the town too.
We've also had lots of visitors too our school; the President of Ireland, a Hallowe'en Witch, Santa Claus and his helpers and the Easter Bunny.
We are looking forward to lots more fun in Senior Infants!!

TIME TO SAY THANKS
We, at St. Patrick's, are very proud of our strong link with the Linenhall, with many classes availing of the excellent art and craft opportunities provided during the year, including the Rolla Bolla Parade. We would like to thank all the staff for their great work during the year.

My Visit to the Linenhall
I went to visit the Linenhall to see Thirsting for Light by Mary Lee Murphy. My favourite picture was the Tree on the Hill. We made wax pictures and painted over the wax. The moon rocks were green and made with fabric paint. The background of the water tree was blue. The fire tree looked like a tree on fire. The place of Rowan was like the country side and the wax was shaped like wind. My picture was a man juggling balls. I enjoy my visit to the Linenhall art. By: Lee Munnelly 3rd Class.
