Castlebar Mitchels 1-18
Mayo Gaels 0-6
The Mitchels minor team had a comprehensive win over Mayo Gaels in McHale Park on Bank Holiday Mon. The Gaels, however, started well but from the time Eamonn Tiernan goaled in the 10th min for Mitchels, they took control in most sectors of the pitch. Sean Ryder and Alan Feeney, the wing backs, took everything coming their way. The forwards with a plentiful supply of ball kept adding on points and none more so than Niall Lydon who finished the game with a total of 7 points. Although played on a heavy pitch there was much end to end football and some very close near misses as both sides tried to play open football.
