My sister Jean and I were privileged to meet up with this wonderful group of dedicated people at the Benefit Dance in Boston on May 31st. A great night's entertainment was provided gratis by "Inchacore" a Boston based group. Many Irish people living in the Boston area came out to support this worthy cause. Citations were presented to all of the walkers by a representative from the Mayor of Boston's office. Also present to welcome the walkers was Seamus Hempenstall, Irish Vice Consul-General. The Boston Friends of Mayo Roscommon Hospice are numerous but for me wonderful to see (old friend) Greta Morris (Ballyglass)and husband Noel,Henry Lally (Castlebar)and his wife. Danny Walsh (Bohola)and his wife.

The walkers included Cynthia Clampett, Hospice Administrator, Frankie Ford Waldron, sponsored walk organizer, Nora and Gerry Walsh, Michael Gavin, Kathleen Hunt, Palliative care nurses Carmen Latimer Barrett and Frances Gallagher. Margaret Coakley, Jackie Denning, Edel McGreal, Ruth Staunton. It was very gratifying to meet the 3 young people doing the walks as each individual had to raise €4,000 euro prior to making the trip. We met many other friendly people at the dance, too numerous to remember names.

The group wanted me to mention Jack and Eileen Hynes of the Irish Village in Yarmouth, Cape Cod for their wonderful hospitality and help. Jean and I spent the rest of the week-end there and had a fantastic time. Check them out at http://www.capecod-irishvillage.com/ . When we bid farewell to the group in Boston, they were unsure of their transportation back to Ireland as Aer Lingus was on strike. We hope everyone made it "slán abhaile". Look forward to meeting you all again next year.

So far they had raised 60,000 euro for Hospice. Check their website at http://www.hospice.ie/.
