The Mayo News Streets of Westport 5-km Road Race
The Mayo News Streets of Westport 5-km Road Race, which takes place on Saturday September 7th, is the last fixture of the Mayo road race league for this year. The course for this event is particularly tranquil and scenic and the event is open to runners, joggers and walkers alike. Registration is from 6.00 pm at Westport Athletic Club Clubhouse, Newport Road and the race commences at 7.00 pm. Entry fee is 8 Euro for Adults and 5 Euro for under 18's.

The Streets of Westport Road Race is being organised to support the eight Western Care Association Special Olympians who have qualified to participate in the World Special Olympics Summer Games in Dublin next June. The eight athletes who will represent Ireland are: Aiofe Beston (athletics), Kiera Joyce, Patrick Mulroy, Teresa Keane, Padraig and Martina Walsh (bowling), Micheál Joyce (equestrian), Ann McCormack (swimming) and Noel Lydon (table tennis).

This is an ideal opportunity to support our Special Olympians and at the same time have an enjoyable evening in Westport. Further details, sponsorship cards, etc. are available from Joe Brett, Fundraising Manager, Western Care Association, John Moore Road, Castlebar.
