| This year students and teachers from Davitt College, Castlebar provide us with a spectacular performance of the comical dual love story "Guys and Dolls". Set in the world of New York's small-time gangsters and gamblers, this highly amusing and entertaining production sees characters such as Nathan Detroit ( Narryan Van Meale), Nicely-Nicely Johnson (John Fitzgerald), Harry the Horse (Stephen Moran) and Sky Masterson (Alan McHale) totally absorbed by their crap game(dice). These men would bet "which lump of sugar a fly will sit on". They are constantly being pursued by Lt. Brannigan (James Bohan) of the New York Police.

When Sky Masterson bets Nathan Detroit a thousand dollars that he will take any doll named by Nathan to Havana on a date he names Sarah Brown (Eimear McEvey) from the Salvation Army. However Nathan is engaged to showgirl Miss Adelaide (Stephanie Pidgeon) for fourteen years and is being put under pressure by her to get married. And so begins a sequence of events where the cast succeed in engaging the attention of the audience throughout with their energetic portrayal of characters and create an atmosphere of suspense and humour from beginning to end.

Directed by Tommy O'Malley with musical director Phil Duffy, this musical will be performed by students and teachers in Davitt College, Castlebar on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 5th, 6th and 7th at 8.30p.m each night.
