God rest her soul. I remember my first job was delivering milk for which my twin brother Brian and I were paid 1/6d per week. One shilling of this was give over to our mother for the household and the 6d we were allowed to spend. We got paid every Friday so on the way home with our precious 6d (a fortune for a 12 year old in those days (late 50's) we would head straight to mai Leonard's shop for our 1d worth of slab toffee. Mmmmmmmmm can still taste it. I believe for 1d we got two squares. Mai was a lovely lady and treated every customer, young or old with respect. Well Mai, I know that you will be ther at the gates of Heaven to hand out your treats to those worthy of such.

May God, rest your soul, Mai.
