families whereabouts

Posted by home from the states on November 06, 2007 at 12:41:15:

Hi all, great to see a web page for my dad's home town. Its been 10 years since I was last home and I was astonished by all the changes I saw. Its like a small city now. But I was amazed to see the old hospital is now a college, and that all the patients are gone! I remember go to the track on open days with my mum and still have a wooden wheel barrow that was made by the patients. I remember old characters like willie flynn rip and a little lady called Bridie Maloney whom live in inLucan Street,is she still alive, or where is she now?? I was upset to see no memorial in the college to acknowledge the history of the building or its past teneants whom lived there and all the history of that era. Surley the reception of the college should have a plaque commerating those whom lived and worked there.Anyone agree with me ?? It was nice to see that the past vistimes of the spanish flu are remebered at the entranc eof the aglish estate sheortcut, but where is the hospitals memorial or am I just old fachioned in wnat ing to commerate those whom were residents of the institution of st marys's .
