"goodfellow" .....you are obviously a McHale Road citizen....your memories resonate with the history that was uniquely our growing up on the road ...the greatest street in the town then and now....we soldiered through the stigma of growing up in "Abbysynia" my heart still has strong feelings for number 10.........once upon a good time...the "gang" wars between the lower end and bacon factory end....John Doherty was the boss in the bacon factory end.....your recalls of going over the wall into the lawn.....there was a tree in the lawn over near the "boarders" residence that we made a "clubhouse".....football on the road daily but Sundays mornings were big days,,,,,we always tried to keep the ball from going into the gardens....particularly "Pearly O Malleys"....or Josie Mc Donnells......In the winter we made an ice slide and watched for some smart "ass" to throw salt on it....how about in the winter playing bon for the light...evry saturday the local farmers would arrive on the road with their produce in a donkey and cartand we would slit open their canvass bags and grab some loot....particularly when apples were in season....we would go out to Blaines and get buttermilk ....there was a certain drama in crossing the old wooden bridge the span the river that flowed into saleen.....Harry Farrell , Mick Gavin , myself Mick Lacey, Mick Colgan would walk out the railroad line to Langston Hill and survey all from its summit....nearby there was the scrubs where we picked many a bag of nuts....but that was all once upon a good time
